Gambia: 3.5 Million Euro Generator Commissioned

As celebrations marking 15 year anniversary of the July 22nd revolution continue with the unveiling of significant projects around the Greater Banjul Area, The Gambia's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Gambians Abroad, Dr Omar Touray, on behalf of the president of the Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, yesterday presided over the commissioning of a 3.5 Million Euros generator (No 9) at the Kotu Power Station.

The purchase generator, which has a capacity of 6.4 mega watts, was financed and supported by the Global Trading Group (GTG). It was installed by the Global Power Supply (GPS). In his official commissioning statement, Minister Touray said the government has registered tremendous achievements in the electricity sub-sector despite the growing challenges and capital intensive nature of development. The Gambia government's policy objectives in the sub-sector, he said, will continue to be guided by the cardinal principles of providing reliable, efficient and affordable electricity and water services to Gambian people.
