Harare — Rhythm and Blues singer Tia is working on a major comeback with a new album recorded with Bongo Maffin.
The "Boy You Got To Know" singer whose real name is Portia Njazi has experimented with one of South Africa's hugely successful and cross culture outfit for the first time.
To music lovers, the "experiment" could turn out to be "highly risky" but successful considering that Bongo Maffin's frontman Jah Seed (Anesu Mupemhi) is not only from Zimbabwe but also well versed with R&B since his days as a club DJ.
According to Tia's management, the project is due for release next month with its first launch in South Africa and then Zimbabwe.
"As a musician Tia should look beyond our borders.
"There is a bigger market outside Zimbabwe and all she needs is to try and make a breakthrough," said a spokesperson.
Tia hit the spotlight with the 2003 single Boy You Got to Know produced by the late Fortune "McDaddy" Muparutsa.
In 2006, she released her debut album titled Spice It Up that earned her rave reviews and a string of accolades including the ZIMA Best Urban Grooves (Female) in 2006.
She has shared the stage with the likes of Ngoni Kambarami, Extra Large, Skhu and Malaika from South Africa to mention a few.
