Nigeria: Gunmen Release Kogi LG Chairmen's Wives

11 August 2009

Lokoja — Mrs Abah, wife of Igalamela Local Government chairman, Ernest Abah, and Mrs Asala, wife of Yagba West Local Government chairman, Ropo Asala, who had gone to pay the ransom on their husbands and held hostage by kidnappers at an undisclosed area in Ondo State have been released.

Their release, they said, was sequel to the fulfilment of the condition of the N10m payment demanded by the captors, adding that any attempt to disclose the identity or location would incur their wrath again. The two women were in high spirit when they came back to Lokoja yesterday. It would be recalled that Mrs Abah and Mrs Asala were taken hostage Saturday at an undisclosed area in Ondo when they went to pay ransom on their husbands.
