Sudan: Additional Peacekeepers From Burkina Faso Arrive in Darfur

The second batch of the advance party of the infantry battalion from Burkina Faso, consisting of 133 personnel, arrived today in Nyala in South Darfur to join the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID).

The advance party will be joining the 134 personnel that arrived last week. The team will be deployed in El Geneina and Foro Baranga in West Darfur.

The advance party contains a number of military engineers who will be tasked with expanding Foro Baranga camp in preparation for the arrival of the main body of the Unit. They will also receive the Contingent-Owned Equipment (COE) in Foro Baranga as it arrives by road.
