The Country Director of the United States Aid for International Development (USAID), Madam Pamela White, has squarely blamed the United States of America and other Western countries for the underdevelopment of Africa.

Madam White attributed the woes of Africa to the US and other Western countries due their lack of vision they have for change on the continent.

Madam White, according to Star Radio news, furthered that Western countries have greatly undermined development initiatives of Africa for the past decades, attributing same to the low quality of development undertaken in Africa.

She maintained that development projects in Africa have made no impact because; according to her, aid projects earmarked for Africa are very tiny that they hardly impact any development projects on the continent.

Madam White said such attitudes by the West including her own organization, USAID, were responsible for the huge poverty rate in Africa.

Speaking during the close of a two-day symposium on the impact of the global financial crisis organized by the Liberia Chambers of Commerce, the USAID Executive promised to change the situation by engaging in projects that will impact sustained development in Liberia.

Madam White believes it was time for donors to help African farmers engage in mechanized farming by supplying them with tractors and other machinery.
