Zimbabwe: Man Accused of Murder

Harare — A Harare man accused of killing his girlfriend by torching her over an altercation on whether or not to go drinking at a bar was on Friday last week remanded in custody to August 21 by Harare magistrate Mr Munamato Mutevedzi.

Prosecutor Mr Bruce Tokwe said on July 3 at around 9pm, Elijah Maziva (32), of Hatcliffe, went to his girlfriend's house and gave her US$35 to pay rent. It is alleged that Beatrice Masunda, the late girlfriend, informed him that she wanted to go out drinking but Maziva refused.
