Keren — In line with endeavors being made to promote active women participation in all domains, a cornerstone has been laid for the construction of women's training center in Keren town through the collaboration of NUEW branch office in Italy.
The Ground +1 building includes offices, an assembly hall, cafeteria and other facilities, and that about 20 million Nakfa would be disbursed for the project.
Speaking during the cornerstone laying ceremony, the chairperson of NUEW branch office in Italy, Ms. Filipos Gebremeskel, stated that Eritrean women residing abroad, especially in Italy have been extending utmost support to the Homelands since the days of the armed struggle for independence. The construction of the Women's Training Center is part and parcel of such initiatives, she added.
Ms. Filipos further pointed out that the branch office had also made due contribution in the task to rebuilt the Martyrs Cemetery in Shambuko which was destroyed by the barbaric and inhumane practices of the TPLF regime during its war of aggression.
Likewise, the head of the Union's branch office in Anseba region, Ms. Alem Belai, noted the impressive contribution of Eritrean women living in Italy beginning from the days of the armed struggle, and commended them for taking this noble initiative of construction training center for women.
