Somalia: Shelling Kills 2, Injures 4 Civilians in Mogadishu

Mogadishu — At least two civilians have been killed and 4 others have been in injured after several shelling landed in parts of Derkenley district in the Somali capital Mogadishu, witnesses told Shabelle radio on Thursday.

Reports say that the shelling came as clashes between the transitional government soldiers and Islamist forces broke out in Kahda neighborhood in Derkenley district in the capital.

Kahda is a large neighborhood in Derkenley district in Mogadishu where there are more of the internally displaced Somalis from the other warring areas in the capital.

Residents said that all the killed and wounded people were displaced civilians who were in the far rural areas of their neighborhood in the capital and it is not the first time that shelling causes casualties of deaths and injures.
