Eritrea: Anseba Region - a Number of Micro-Dams, Water Reservoirs and Wells Constructed

Asmara — In continuation of the coordinated efforts being made in Anseba region to provide reliable potable water supply to the people, a number of micro-dams, water reservoirs and wells have been constructed in different parts of the region at an expenditure of about 25 million Nakfa.

Reports indicated that the installation of water pipelines in Mekit, Begu, Aybaba and Deki-Andu have been finalized and has already began rendering service, while the ones in Mai-Wara, Deki-Gebru, Wasdemba, She'ib-Seleba, Deki-Gebru and Dekemhare are nearing finalization. Putting in place of water pipelines is also underway in Hawash, Adi-Sheik Al-Amin, Shenduwa, Begesa, Adi-Hizbai and others, the reports added.

Moreover, 9 micro-dams and water reservoirs have been constructed in Guba-Raki, Dirkunoq, Adigar-Alebu, Hamdai and others which are playing major role in easing potable water supply problems. The reports further pointed out that the local inhabitants took active participation in the undertaking.

There are also plans to construct additional 32 wells in various administrative areas of the region in the near future, according to reports.
