Luanda — The president of Nigeria, Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, Friday addressed a message to his Angolan counterpart, José Eduardo dos Santos, on the situation in the Gulf of Guinea.
The message was delivered on Friday in Luanda to the speaker of National Assembly, by Nigeria's minister of Foreign Affairs and special envoy of the West African country's head of State, Bagudu Hirse.
The envoy told the press that the message has to do with peace and security in the Gulf of Guinea.
The Nigerian diplomat affirmed that Angola and Nigeria are members of the Commission of the Gulf of Guinea, whose headquarter is based in Luanda, therefore there is a need to keep Angolan president informed on the situation in the region.
Bagudu Hirse said that he seized the meeting with the Parliament speaker to thank Angola for its useful support in the resolution of political and military situation in Africa's most populous nation's Delta of Niger region.
Hirse pointed as example the arrest, in Angola, of one of the leaders that supply weapon to the guerrilla in Delta of Niger.
