Lagos — Member of the House of Representatives representing Epe Federal Constituency, Ibrahim Gbabijo has assured that Action Congress (AC) members in the House would ensure that the National Assembly enlists the 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos.
Gbabijo gave this assurance at the weekend during an empowerment programme held at the Epe Recreation Centre, Epe Lagos State.
He also denied the allegation that the documents of the Lagos LCDAs have not been presented before the National Assembly.
According to him, Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Ndoma Egba, had earlier alleged that Lagos State has not presented the bill asking for the enlistment of the 37 LCDAs before the National Assembly.
The lawmaker described the allegation as a blatant lie, saying "I was part of the Lagos team that delivered the document with the Lagos Assembly Minority Leader.
"I am saying this and I want to be quoted that it is not true. We presented this document before the senate. So, for anybody to have said that we have not presented the bill before the National Assembly is nothing but an unconcealed lie.
"We as the AC members belong to the minority in the House and I am sure you must have been hearing that we are few, and we are doing all within our reach. So I would not want to join in saying that National Assembly is not doing enough," he added.
The lawmaker however, assured that AC members would continue to do all they can to ensure that the National Assembly enlists the LCDAs in the constitution.
He also dismissed the allegation that the National Assembly is not doing enough in terms passing bills that would better the lives of the masses.
"We are doing our best but some people are still saying we are not doing enough and I believe some are applauding us for the little we have done.
"People are just of the opinion that we are not doing enough. We have our own predicaments that are slowing down some of the things we are doing," Gbabijo stated.
