Nigeria: Bwari Area Council to Build Two Major Township Roads

Abuja — Bwari Area Council has written for approval from Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to construct two major township roads within the council headquarters, Isa Dara, Council's Chairman said.

Dara stated this an interview at Bwari yesterday adding that the roads were in terrible shape and eye sore."We have written to FCTA for approval to construct the roads and we expect to get reimbursement later when we finish the roads," he said.

According to Dara the council has waited for the work to be done by the construction firm who won the award for the construction of the roads by Satellite Towns Development Agency, (STDA) but the work has stopped for sometime now.

"As we are waiting for the approval, we decided to solicit for support and cooperation from some of the construction firms that have quarry within Bwari and stakeholders to help us with chippings to fill the port holes along the major roads," he added.

The major roads include the central road that run across the town that is Kuduru / Law School road which extended to the Emir / Market road and that of former FCDA Quarters which has been described by the residents of the area as the worst road within the council.

The FCDA Quarters road was constructed in early days of 1980 and has been without maintenance since then.

On how to source for the fund to do the job, Dara said he would find a way when the council receive the approval.
