Somalia: Heavy Fighting Breaks Out in Bula Burde District in Hiran Region

Somalia — Heavy fighting between forces loyal to Harakat Al-shabab Mujahideen and transitional government soldiers has broken out in Bula burde district in Hiran region, witnesses told Shabelle radio on Thursday.

Reports say that the fighting started early on Thursday morning as government soldiers from Beledweyn town reached around Bula Burde district on Wednesday.

No casualties have been reported so far and there is no any of the warring sides commented on the fighting yet. Locals told Shabelle radio that both sides are in out of the district adding that the sound of sporadic gunfire could be heard in the area.

Residents expressed concern about the fighting and the possibility to spread the clashes through their residences in the district. The people have also great fear of the war that caused to halt the movement of business activity there.

The fighting comes as the transitional government officials in Beled weyn town told reporters yesterday that they were going to capture another parts of the region in central Somalia.
