Abuja — Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) of Jikwoyi Junior Secondary School Abuja recently won an international award in a competition between them and 19 other countries of the world.

The competition which took place in Brazil early this month, is said to be the third of its kind aimed at providing a platform for social networking among the participating countries and its representatives.

The assistant coordinator of the team, Mr. Rotimi James, said the team left the country on August 6, for the competition, adding the school has been winning the same award in the past three years.

"Our school's success didn't surprise me because since the inception of the competition, the team has been representing Nigeria and victory has always come to our great nation," he said.

The school's success is also attributed to the commitment and dedication of the students, their teachers, the school's principal, parents as well as the support from the government.

Apart from the Sage World Cup Award which is the overall award for all the activities that took place, the school also won five other awards which includes the best environmental project for the sage year which attracted a gift of two thousand dollars, most profitable business venture, MDG 5 & 7 best projects, MDG 6 second best and MDG 8 where the school also took third position.

Coordinator of the team, Mrs Patience Mekwunye, while speaking, id the school was able to win there awards because the competition was segmented into ten different curricular which her team was able to perform well in all the areas.

President of the club, Blessing Nwaiwu,who was among the 13 representatives from the school, expressesed joy over the victory, adding that their success is attributed to the support of their principal, coordinators, teachers, parents, the FCT minister as well as their own determination to make their country great via entrepreneurship.

The principal of the school, Mallam Abubakaar Garba, while commenting, said he was overwhelmed at the victory of the young entepreneurers and promised to always stand by them.
