Kano — The Kano State Commissioner for Projects Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr. Ibrahim Garba, has expressed optimism the state government will complete all minor works remaining on all the facilities to be used for the coming FIFA Under-17 World Cup Finals before the end of next week.
Dr. Garba was again reinstating this government stance after completing a further venue inspection of the facilities to see the pace of work at them. He pointed out that apart from the projects undertaken by the state government, there are also federal projects to be executed at the stadium and FIFA has promised to intervene for their early completion.
Dr. Ibrahim Garba assured that all the other projects, apart from those of the World Cup, which on going at the facilities, would be completed within 45 days. The contractors handling them had been directed to ensure the attainment of this deadline, adding that with functional borehole for constant water supply and generating sets, the Sani Abacha Stadium would be among the best venues for the youth tournament. Commenting on the mounted scoreboard, the inspection of which he had done earlier Dr. Garba expressed satisfaction over the final job despite initial hurdles. On his part, Mr. Oscar Oh of Alti-Viewtech informed the commissioner that the scoreboard would be found to be the best in Africa after it had been put to usage. Oh further assured that with the mounting of the fabricated casing already done, fixing of the scoreboard and other electronic gadgets would be completed within two weeks.
