Zimbabwe: Grandma Accused of Abuse

Harare — A 55-YEAR-OLD woman was last week charged with contravening the Child Protection and Adoption Act at the Harare Magistrates' Courts after she allegedly ill-treated her three minor grandchildren by denying them food, not paying their school fees and continually assaulting them.

Annatolia Zinyemba, who is the mother of the three minors' father, was remanded to September 10 by magistrate Ms Tendai Rusinahama on US$100 bail. She was ordered to reside at the given address and not to interfere with witnesses as part of her bail conditions.
