Ali Bongo has shown his lust for power by announcing that he is the winner of Sunday's elections. Is there no Electoral Commission in Gabon? By announcing his victory he has pre-empted the results and this is an attempt to force the hand of the Electoral Commission. Any statesman worthy to be president should wait for others (his competitors/opponents and the Electoral Commission) to crown him winner. How did he get access to the National TV in the first place? Where is the leader of the Senate who I suppose has the reins of power until a new president is elected? If he is indeed the winner, this childish, immature, imperious and impetuous action of his will leave a bad taste in the mouths of the Gabonese people and will create a high degree of distrust amongst his adversaries and supporters. He was ill-advised to announce his victory and without being a devil's advocate, I predict that he has sown the seeds of civil unrest and possibly some fighting in Gabon if he is eventually declared the winner of Sunday's elections.
