Somalia: Puntland Air Forces Capture Two Airplanes From Seychelles With 23 Pirates in Galka'o Town Airport

Galka'Yo — High officials of Puntland administration have Monday said that they the forces captured two airplanes belonging to Seychelles in the airport of Galka'o town in Mudug region.

Reports from the town say the troops of Puntland administration captured the plans in Galka'o airport and were carrying at least 23 Somali pirates.

Locals say that the pirates were released by the administration Seychelles Island by changing other hostages of its citizens in the coasts of Somalia adding that the plans left their homeland and reached Galka'o town airport by no informing the administration of Puntland.

The district commissioner of Jariban who was in the airport of Kalka'o town said that the aircrafts landed in Gara'ad district in Mudug region earlier saying that they returned and landed on Galka'o airstrip as they were returning to their country due to lack of fuel so as to get a fuel in Galka'o town to return to Nairobi where they planes left.

Ahmed Ali Salad, a chairman of Galmudug state in the regional administration of Puntland told Shabelle radio that they were aware the aircrafts and still in search saying that they would comment to the journalists later today.

There is uncompleted airstrip in the coastal town of Gara'ad in Mudug region where some reports say that the planes landed there on Sunday afternoon where, a stronghold of the Somali pirates.

Other sources indicate that one of the two aircrafts were belonged by a well-known businessman called Jama'a Bullug adding that the other one was reportedly unclear what company belongs to.

It is also not clear the number of crew on both airplanes and whether they were really from Seychelles or other countries in the neighboring.
