Rwanda: Special Olympics Tourney in Pipeline

Kigali — THE National Special Olympics Committee is set to organise a kids' tournament later this month.

The one-day tournament slated for September 20 at Kicukiro will have children with disabilities competing in football, volleyball, basketball and athletics.

The tournament will attract nine clubs ranging from SOS, Gahanga, Hirwa iwanyu, Umwana nk'abandi, Humura, Amizero, Kwa Gisimba, Izere mubyeyi and Kigali Parents School.

The President of the National Special Olympics Committee Anaclet Ruzindana said the whole idea of the tournament is to select Kigali's representatives for next year's national meet.

"The best teams in Kigali will compete at the national level from were the committee will pick a team to represent Rwanda at the 2011 Special Olympics Games," Ruzindana said.

The 2011 Special Olympics Games will be hosted by Greece.
