Addis Abeba — "AU is successfully transforming to a model international university. The transformation is guided by a framework which is fully approved and declared as binding by the government of Ethiopia," Founder and President of AU Prof. Dr. Herbert Eichele said.
Adama University registered encouraging achievements since March, 2008 towards becoming a well established model university. The University provides services not found elsewhere and has launched Tropical Diseases Center, according to President of the University.
Activities have been carried out based on the Framework designed to achieve transformation in a short span of time, said the Founder President of the Universitysaid last week at the inaugural ceremony of Tropical Diseases Research Center held at its Asala campus.
AU has become the only University in the country which provides around the clock wireless internet connection services to the community of the University; has many partners who entered cooperation agreement with it; enjoys student administration support system; connects Adama campus with its Asala campus by fiber optics; and broke down the University's procurement chain in favour of an effective one. It also created job opportunities for students in the campus, said the President.
The inauguration of Tropical Diseases Research Center in Asala campus is an expansion program that scales up its standard. This center, located in Asala Hospital, also contributes to the prevention of tropical diseases in the town.

AU has six schools: School of Engineering and Information Technologies, School of Business Administration, Management and Trade, School of Pedagogic and Vocational Teaccher Education, School of Humanities and Natural Sciences, School of Agriculture and School of Health. The firs four schools are located in AU's Adama campus while the remaining are in Assela campus found 70 km south from Adama.
