Sierra Leone: 'Ghadaffi Should Apologize to Country'

Freetown — Goodwill ambassador of the Sierra Leone/Israel friendship society has reiterated the call for Libyan leader Muammar Ghadaffi to apologize and make reparations to Sierra Leone and Liberia for what he referred to as his sullied role in both countries' civil wars.

Sirajin Munirr Rollings-Kamara said through the support of the Libyan leader, undesirable and unspeakable sufferings and hardship were witnessed in the two nations.

Rollings-Kamara's statement comes in the wake of Ghadaffi's call for African countries to close ties with Israel, as he accused the middle-east nation of being responsible for the woes of Africa.

He said: "It comes as a surprise to hear no less a person than Ghadaffi blaming Israel for Africa's woes when Sierra Leoneans and Liberians have not forgotten the role he played in their civil wars."

The goodwill ambassador said Ghadaffi was unlucky not to be in The Hague as his involvement was also equaled to that of Charles Taylor, noting "he helped destroy the country's infrastructure whilst he continues to make himself very rich out of our diamonds.

"He trained most of the RUF and NPFL top commanders, including Foday Sankoh and Charles Taylor. He ripped us of our diamonds as he ran a trade cartel running through Liberia, Burkina Faso and Libya."

Rollings-Kamara said blaming Israel for Africa's woes is like a lazy man blaming his machete for a poor harvest, adding that Israel has done nothing to make Africa backward.

"Africa cannot be fooled any longer by leaders who make careless, reckless and irresponsible statements like that of Ghadaffi. If he means his words, let him show something for it," he maintained.
