Tanzania: State to Probe Abuses in Ngorongoro Eviction

The Government has at last announced that it will investigate the alleged serious human right abuses in the much criticized operation to evict Maasai pastoralists in Loliondo District, during which houses were burnt down.

The minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Ms Shamsa Mwangunga, declared this on Saturday at a ceremony to hand over Ereto, a 15 year-project initiated by the Danish and Tanzanian governments to help reduce poverty and improve the livehoods of pastoralist in Ngorongoro.
