West Africa: Jhpiego Leadership visit West Africa to raise awareness and support maternal health programs

In an effort to bring attention to maternal health and the importance of combating the extremely high maternal mortality rates in West Africa, Jhpiego President & CEO, Dr. Leslie Mancuso and Jhpiego Vice President of Global Programs and West Africa native, Dr. Alain Damiba will visit Burkina Faso from Tuesday, September 15 through Saturday, September 19.

Jhpiego, an international non-profit health organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins University, is dedicated to preventing the needless death of women and families around the world.  While in Burkina Faso, Dr. Mancuso and Dr. Damiba will meet with country leaders, local health officials and international health leaders to discuss progress achieved in maternal health and the importance of establishing successful health care systems throughout the country.  Additionally, Dr. Mancuso and Dr. Damiba will tour health care facilities and will have the opportunity to meet the mothers and families who benefit from the extraordinary work of experts in the countries that partner with Jhpiego.
