Kano — Kano State government is putting arrangement in top gear to embark on the building of a five-star hotel to be sited near Kofar Nassarawa in Kano metropolis.
The institution of the hotel is to further enhance the revenue drive of the government and push its hospitality posture to the next level.
The Kano State Commissioner of Commerce, Industry, Trade and Tourism, Alhaji Ahmad Yakasai, revealed this while receiving the management of the state Ministry of Information, led by its commissioner, Barrister Haruna Dederi, who was on an assessment visit for Public Relations and Information Officers posted to various ministries and government agencies, Monday.
Yakasai said that already a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been drafted between private investors and the Kano government, which will soon be signed.
He pointed out that the hotel, if completed, will provide the necessary hotel accommodation to the teeming visitors in the state, as well as improve the state's internallyg generated revenue, among others.
He also revealed that a storey building will equally be erected in the premises of the Daula Hotel, which will have 200 rooms and a number of shops on the ground floor, adding that the government has also embarked on general renovation of the Magwan Water Resort and the Tiga Rock Castle Hotel, which has so far consumed about N70 million.
At the Tiga Rock Castle, a lot of facilities will be put in place such as a polo ground, improved speed boats and golf course among other facilities that will generate revenue, he said.
The commssioner also revealed that while the government has entered into partnership with private investors for the provision of standard shopping mall at the Trade Fair ground, where the sum of N100 million has already been approved, a fish market will also be established at Unguwa Uku area.
He used the avenue to commend the state government for its foresight in initiating such profitable ventures that will assist the state and its people in different ways.
He then expressed determination of his ministry to always remain committed to ensuring that it supports everything that will facilitate the development of commerce and commercial activities in Kano.
Meanwhile, Dederi has again assured of the determination of the Kano State government to support all the state media organisations among other establishments for more efficient performance.
He gave the assurance while inspecting the test-run virtual magic studio facilities for creative television production displayed by the Kantakt Pro Nigeria Limited, owned by Sony Professional and Broadcast Company at the studios of CTV 44 Kano, Monday.
The commissioner, who was amazed by the quality of the creativity that can be achieved, said such facilities are the ones being used by CNN and BBC World, among other international television stations.
He said he would make a case for the station with a view to ensuring that it posseses such facilities, believing that if CTV can have the gadgets, it will equally produce creative programmes that will catch the attention of its viewers.
He said the government will continue to provide an enabling environment for its teeming workers so that they will continue to put in their best.
