Laureus World Sports Academy, a unique association comprising 45 of the greatest living sporting legends has held a coaching clinic for children of OrphanAid Africa in Dodowa, in the Ga Dangbe District.
At the clinic last Thursday, Ghanaian born French soccer legend Marcel Desailly, a key member of Laureus and 400metre double Olympic gold winner - Edwin Moses, chairman of Laureus, demonstrated high profile sporting lessons to the children, which was followed by a comprehensive interaction with the kids.
Three elements form the essence of Laureus- Laureus Sports Academy, the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and the Laureus World Sports Awards.
The two sports icons challenged the children to esteem sports alongside their education, since it has the power to change their lives positively.
The President of OrphanAid Africa, Lisa Lovatt-Smith expressed satisfaction for the duo's visit, but revealed that one of the challenges confronting the foster village and are the lack electricity, inadequate toilet facilities and pipe-borne water.
OrphanAid Africa is a non-profit organization founded in 2002, and dedicated to helping orphans and vulnerable children in Ghana, West Africa, to grow up in healthy nurturing environments that provide quality education, care and support.
