Lagos — Troubled Super Eagles' head coach, Shuaibu Amodu, may have secured himself the job of becoming the head coach of Globacom Premier League side, Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure, after his future remains uncertain with the Nigerian national team.
In spite of assurances from the bigwigs at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amodu knows that he is sitting on a keg of gunpowder at the moment after the dismal performance of the Super Eagles in its 2-2 draw on September 6, at the Abuja National Stadium, during a 2010 World Cup qualifier.
Daily Independent understands that Amodu has agreed in principle with the Globacom Premier League side to join it as head of technical department, in case he is shown the exit door by the football moneybags in the country, in the eventuality of Nigeria's failure to reach the Mundial next year in South Africa.
It would be recalled that Amodu had pleaded with the country's football federation to allow him stay in the saddle as Super Eagles' head coach for the remaining qualifying matches.
At the same time, Amodu knows that with the Presidential Task Force (PTF) in place, and even if the Super Eagles finally qualify for the World Cup through its usual default pattern, he could be dropped as head coach of the side.
It is believed that Amodu knows that the writing is on the wall, following the altercation he had with some of the influential figures in the Super Eagles, over his criteria for leaving out Portsmouth forward, John Utaka, from the game against Tunisia.
