Luanda — Angolan Foreign Affairs minister, Assunção dos Anjos, is in his way to New York, USA, to attend the 64th General Assembly of the United Nations, on behalf of Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos.
At the General Assembly that will start next Wednesday in a political and economic difficult moment, the 192 member states of the United Nations will analyse important common issues, that affect humanity, namely financial and economic crisis, international peace and security, African needs, millennium development goals, environment changes, among other issues.
On the sidelines of the general debate, the Angolan minister will also attend an important meeting about climate change, promoted by the general secretary of the United Nations, Korean Ban Ki-moon.
During his stay in New York, Assunção dos Anjos will attend multilateral meetings to strengthen relations with other countries, as well as to contribute to find solution for problems that affect international community, mainly in the group-77 and China and International Conference of New and Renewed Democracies.
He will also participate in the meeting of Least Developed Countries, under Portuguese-speaking countries (CPLP) and in the International contact Group of the Economic Community of West African States (ECCOWAS) for Guinea-Bissau.
Angolan Foreign Affairs minister will speak next Monday at the session of the United Nations General Assembly.
