Angola: Navy Better Upgraded, Says Chief of Staff

The chief of staff of the Angolan Navy, admiral Augusto da Silva Cunha "Gugú", affirmed this Monday in Luanda that this sector of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) is better upgraded regarding the functioning of the new organic structures.

Augusto da Silva "Gugú" was speaking during the ceremony of swearing in members of the management board of the Luanda Naval Base, having defending that the new territory limits have been established with naval regions and now with the new departments.

Admiral "Gugú" urged the recently sworn in officers to utilise the capacities of their subordinates.

The navy will continue counting on the work of each of its staff, since they are the elements and driving force towards development.

During the ceremony, Augusto da Silva Cunha praised the vice admiral Valentim António, who recently returned from Russia, for having concluded his studies at the military staff academy of that country, having received a high distinction and a red diploma.

"Such distinction and the knowledge obtained at that prominent military academy is a reason of pride for the navy, which will contribute to the expansion of the sector", the top officer stressed.

According to Augusto da Silva "Gugu" the global re-equipping programme includes investments necessary for the construction and reconstruction of infrastructures adjusted to the new dimension of this sector of the armed forces.
