Angola: MPLA Rejoices with President Dos Santos 30 Years Leadership

Luanda — The politburo of Angola's ruling MPLA party today rejoiced with the deeds of president Jose Eduardo dos Santos in 30 years leadership of the country and reaffirmed its commitment to do everything towards the improvement of the living conditions of angolan people.

In a statement marking the 30th anniversary of the empowerment of Jose Eduardo dos Santos as president of Angola, following the passing away of dr Antonio Agostinho Neto, the politburo of the MPLA extols his qualities as a statesman, stating that "no doubt the life of president dos Santos is marked, since his adolescence up to nowadays, by a full dedication to Angola and to angolan people".

The MPLA politburo also rejoices for the "high prestige" reached by Angola in the international arena, as a result of the "high sense" of state in the defense of the national interests which president dos Santos showed how to deal with external affairs with or without direct implications to the country.

"As president Jose Eduardo dos Santos then referred himself, it was not an easy neither a possible replacement (of Agostinho Neto) but a nercessary substitution, above all because that was about filling the place left by the first president of the republic, "founder of the angolan nation, comrade Antonio Agostinho Neto" - reads the statement.

In the document, the MPLA politburo chronologically describes the most relevant deeds of Jose Eduardo dos Santos in different aspects of his 30 years guiding the destinies of Angola stressing that his leadership ended up confirming that was not only about a necessary replacement but also and overall the right option for the country.

"His indisputable intelligence, his high sense of tolerance and fraternity, his great vision of the future and his acute insight in the appreciation and decision on the most important problems and challanges faced by Angola and the angolan people are obvious and unavoidable facts of our history that will mark future generations" - reads the document.

The MPLA politburo states that his promotion to the highest magistrature when he was only 37 years old in the context of the cold war, with the country facing an internal rebellion supported from abroad, so as the need to consolidate the the main institutions of the angolan state put to proof his whole capacity of leadership and the rare working organization of Jose Eduardo dos Santos.

It considers that today, in a context of full democracy and freedom of expression and political organization, the deeds of Jose Eduardo dos Santos must be recalled to let us understand with major objectivity why we have an entire and peaceful country (...) where its formerly discorded offsprings, are now presenting the angolan people and the international community with one of the most beatiful lessons of patriotism, brotherhood and tolerance.

According to the ruling party, angolans have reached an high degree of maturity and responsability, as they have been able to prove to the world its capacity of option, a circunstance that led them to demonstrate, in different manners, their affection, admiration and loyalty to their leader.

In the statement, the MPLA party acknowledges that, notwithstandingly the country still faces some hindrances in different domains, as a result of the long period of war and laceration of its social tissue, and therefore reiterates its commitment to do its best, under the leadership of president Jose Eduardo dos Santos, to improve the living conditions of angolan people.

In such context, it urges the civil society to join the government efforts in the strugglle for the eradication of hunger and poverty, reorganization and upgrading of the state administration, maintenance of public oder, security and tranquility and in the hard battle for national reconstruction.

"The MPLA politburo has no doubt to state that president Jose Eduardo dos Santos has his life marked, since adolescence by a full dedication to Angola and to angolan people" - reads the document.
