Gambia: Give Peace Chance

Banjul — We wish to join the rest of the world in observing the International Day of Peace, which is observed each year, on September 21. The idea behind the observance of the day is for people to come together to promote cooperation and communication among nations through public awareness and education.

Many world organizations promote a letter writing campaign where citizens send letters to the leaders of their countries encouraging them to embrace peaceful alternatives to international conflicts and to use their influence for good. Many groups and organisations organize peace prayers, where members come together and offer prayers on behalf of world leaders. They pray for the resolution of conflicts worldwide and for ongoing wars to end peacefully.
