The Black Satellite of Ghana are banking on the attacking prowess of the 18-year-old son of Abedi Pele, Andre Ayew to record a resounding victory over Uzbekistan in today's group D opener in the city of Ismailia.
Satellites coach, Sellas Tetteh, was literally on cloud nine when the France based striker arrived Ismailia Wednesday night alongside David Addy.
A confident Tetteh declared afterwards: "We are now a complete squad. I am sure we will gel quickly. We will get the job done against Uzbekistan".
Tetteh has every reason to boast if Ghana's record in the competition is anything to go by. The West Africans have faced Asian oppositions five times in the competition, wining four and drawing only one against China.
The quartet of Japan, Kazakhstan, Iran and UAE had in the past lost to Ghana, and Tetteh is sure Uzbeks will go the same way today in the city of Ismailia.
But coach of Uzbekistan Akhmad Ubaydulkev, has on his part said they are not in Egypt to view the Pyramids, insisting that Ghana will see hell in the group opener.
In the words of the tough talking tactician: "Our goal is to get past the group stage. I have a team that has developed tactically, technically, physically and mentally. It will be a tough game against Ghana".
Uzbekistan are looking for their first win in the championship, having lost all three games when they made their debut in 2003.
