Fifty homes constructed by A United States-based Charity, 'Living Waters International,' have been officially opened in Sasstown, Klay District, Bomi County. Under the 'Home for Life Project,' which targets deprived widows in the area, the Charity is also renovating more than 80 dwelling homes, damaged as a result of the civil conflict.
In remarks Saturday during the occasion, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf described Liberia's partnership with 'Living Waters International' as one which is centered around the suffering people. A great partnership, she noted, is one which touches the lives of the people. The President expressed confidence that the project will transform the livelihood of women in the community. Government, the Liberian leader promised, would endeavor to replicate the project in other counties. She called on residents to help sustain the project by engaging in agricultural activities.
An Executive Mansion release says the President urged the leadership of the County to ensure that beneficiaries maintain the project. President Johnson Sirleaf also stressed the need for the construction of a school and clinic in the community.
Cost for each of the newly constructed two-bedroom homes is put at US $15-thousand.
Living Waters International Director, Bob Keirs, joined President Johnson Sirleaf Saturday at the dedicatory ceremony, which was also witnessed by House Speaker Alex Tyler, Internal Affairs Minister Ambulai Johnson, Members of the National Superintendents Council, Bomi County Superintendent Mohammed Massaley, among others.
