The little known neighbourhood of Ntatru in metropolitan Bamenda has a lot to show with a local initiative that unites youths in the spirit of peace and development. In the short and long of it; Pilaco is the six letter word that inspires hope for youths with a stated mission to research and carry out vocational and professional training for youths and women on skills as a vital means of achieving sustainable solutions to abject poverty and unemployment.
The initiative already sounds off as a blessing for some 23 whose future hangs on the project. Pilaco we are told, enhances the potentials of youths and women for greater efficiency towards development. They equally promote leadership skills among youths with Rev. Achu Ngwah John at the helm.
Inquisitive Cameroon Tribune reporters were at the Pilaco venture to uncover its components of a bakery, health unit and efforts to give youths and women a chance in progress and prosperity. On- the- spot, we got it that Pilaco bread is the product of their bakery with a staff strength of about ten while the health unit which handles the health needs of staff employ three staff. "Cibtse " we were told is the training arm of Pilaco with staff often trained in health care management and computer skills while the Pilaco demonstration farms in the neighbourhood of Mbatu drill and empower youths in gainful agricultural activities.
Away from that, Pilaco has a strong spiritual attachment with its 13-year old International praying community ( IPC) facility. Rev. Dr. Tamo Achu, the Vision Coordinator says it is interdenominational to stir the spiritual life of Bamenda inhabitants plus counselling exercises for staff and guests. The international praying community of Bamenda feature counselling sessions each week day summed up in their building of a conquering spirit. The spiritual component of the enterprise according to Rev. Dr. Tamo Achu is summed up in what he calls a "vision that brings and establishes people in life to over flowing, making them more than conquerors in every sphere of their endeavours".
Among their challenges; Pilaco and their efforts to develop youths and women are working to bring local and national awareness and focus on the initiative. In their drive towards poverty alleviation, management appeals for a push in expert management and expertise in baking skills in their attempt to set standards in the bread business. They want donors and the government to stand by them and a massive adherence to their conquerors evangelical mission as the gate way to hope and salvation.
