THE Monitor Action Group (MAG) opposition party unveield its list of 72 candidates for the National Assembly on Friday. MAG has had one Member of Parliament over the last 10 years.

There are 23 female candidates among the 72 candidates.

In terms of the Electoral Act, a minimum number of 25 candidates is a requirement for the list, which must be submitted to the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN).

"However, the annual meeting of MAG on September 18 decided to nominate the full number of 72 candidates," MAG Chairman Kosie Pretorius said in a statement on Friday.

"For Monitor Action Group the emphasis is not on those who can implement a political manifesto full of promises, but rather those who are capable to give effect to a political principle and policy document under the title of 'Improve the Constitution of Namibia, treat the cause - not the result'," Pretorius said.
