Uganda: Mariam Ndagire to Premiere New Movie

Mariam Ndagire is set to premiere a new movie about traditional kingdoms.

With the recent controversy between Buganda kingdom and the central government, one might get tempted to think that she penned the Hearts In Pieces a few weeks ago. But she says she started making the film a couple of months before the bloody riots.

She also says the movie is not related to the current political situation in the country.

"I hope that people understand what the movie is about. Yes, it's about kingdoms but I'm not taunting anybody," she says ahead of the movie premiere scheduled for Independence Day in Kampala.

The premiere will be attended by only invited guests. The public screening will follow with two shows on Saturday and Sunday respectively at 3pm and 7pm at an entrance fee of Shs10,000.

The DVDs and VCDs will be on sale instantly after the premiere. There will be a cocktail before the screening of the movie that will see fans meet with their favourite film and music stars.

The red carpet action will run from 5pm until 6pm and the 180-minute movie will start showing at 7pm. Heart In Pieces is Ndagire's fourth movie.

The actors' line up in the movie has the likes of Abbey Mukiibi, Patricko Mujuuka, Laura Kahunde, Kato Lubwama and Prince Joel.

When dreams, determination and fate collide the result is what Hearts In Pieces reveals.

In the movie, everyone who gets next to the king has a hidden agenda but convinces the king that they are the right company.

However, in the end the movie shows how one can liberate himself, and Ndagire says "that's the reason why I chose to launch it on Independence Day."
