Nigeria: Healthcare - NDDC Partners General Electric, Canadian Firm

Abuja — The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the healthcare arm of General Electric as well as a Canadian firm, have entered into partnership for the establishment and equipping of integrated diagnostic healthcare systems in the Niger Delta region. Already the Canadian firm has commenced the building of a 1,000-bed hospital complex in the Rivers State capital, Port Harcourt, as part of the project.

Managing Director of NDDC, Chibuzor Ugwoha, who disclosed this in Abuja weekend at a meeting with the GE delegation led by the President and Chief Executive Officer of GE Healthcare, Mr. John Dineen, which held at the Transcorp Hilton, explained that the push for technical support for the integrated hospitals is to enable the NDDC actualise the new focus of training the locals where the hospitals would be sited.
