An indigenous Gas Company, Graceland Gas Nigeria Limited, has fabricated the prototype of a gas gathering and conversion plant in Lagos.
Managing Director of the Company, Nwoke Nwaoma, told newsmen in Lagos that the completion of the project had been made known to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the local content division of the ministry of Petroleum, some major oil and gas companies in the country.
According to him, the Abia State Government has donated several hectares of land for the Construction of the Liquefied Natural Gas plant.
Mr. Nwoma said his ability to construct the LNG prototype plant was borne out of Devine inspiration and about 20 years of serious Studies of journals and books authored by expert in the oil and gas industry especially Natural Gas.
He said that he had planned to shock the world's oil and gas industry through this invention. He stated that earlier efforts at getting the local content department of the ministry of petroleum had fallen on its due to the reluctance of the head of the department, Engineer Nwapa to heed his call for attention.
Nwoke Uwaoma commended the Petroleum Industry Bill currently before the National Assembly, however said the contention of the bill would be its execution.
Stating that the bill in all its intent and purposes seeks to ensure sanity and accountability in the industry, Uwaoma expressed that the corruption may see some companies and individuals hijacking or seek out loopholes in the bill to the detriment of the nation and her people, stressed that cabal in the industry may ensure the failure of the bill and opened that to ensure an effective execution of the bill that a separate monitoring entity should be established.
"You see what they did to the local content policy. The department and some diehard oil and gas companies go round claiming that about 45 per cent local inclusion has been achieved but it is a lie. I can confirm to you that they that are all facades. They do their fabrications out Nigeria. They hardly employ in Nigeria in those areas they term sensitive in order not to expose them to the expertise and our people in the ministry who hand in glove with them are aware of this."
