Abuja — An Abuja-based trader Mr. Kenechukwu Ezeh has requested the Inspector General of Police Mike Okiro to investigate his unlawful detention and confiscation of his goods worth N3 million by a Superintendent of Police attached to the Zone 7 Police Headquarters, Abuja.

In his petition, Ezeh said his former mentor, whom he served for eight years before his internship ended in 2008 to commence retail business, connived with the police officer who arrested him and detained him at the Zone 7 police headquarters.

He said the police officer told him that he was to be investigated for financial misappropriation while he was working under his former mentor.

"While in detention for three weeks, my former mentor together with the police officer and some of his colleagues broke into my shop at Wuse market and carted away the entire goods valued at N3 million and money estimated at N1 million as well as collected valuables worth N800, 000 from my girlfriend, Miss Chinyere Omeh in her house located at No. 3 Ujine Street, Independence Layout Enugu, Enugu State," he said.

A police source at the Force Headquarters told Daily Trust that Okiro had directed a Commissioner of Police to investigate the alleged fraud and report back to him for necessary action. The source said investigation into the matter is on and that the case file will be transferred to the force headquarters from the Zone 7 headquarters.
