Mozambique: Frelimo Official Admits Abuse of State Vehicles

Maputo — An official of the ruling Frelimo Party, in the northern Mozambican province of Nampula, has admitted that state-owned vehicles have been used illegally in the Frelimo election campaign, but blames this on individual civil servants.

Interviewed in Friday's issue of the weekly paper "Savana", Lourenco Sabonete, Frelimo's Secretary for Mobilisation and Propaganda in Nampula, declared "We don't use resources that belong to the state, we use the resources of our own comrades".
