Former Guinean Prime Minister, Tidiane Souare, arrived in Nigeria yesterday on a mission to seek the country's support to put an end to military rule and judicial killings in his country.
The former Guinea leader who arrived with some Guineans politicians, labour leaders and civil society at the Murtala Muhammad international Airport Lagos told journalists that the visit was to hold discussions with other West African leaders on how to stop the political killings and restore democracy in Guinea.
According to him, the situation in his country called for urgent intervention of leaders in the West African sub-region. The former Prime Minister who sustained injury in his forehead like some of the team members said the injuries were inflicted on them by the military who had killed over 200 politicians in the country.
He said, "We are going to Abuja to meet with ECOWAS leaders and hold discussions about our country. The injury on my head is a mark from them. Absolutely they beat us directly and they killed some, more than 200 were killed by the junta", he said.
He said they decided to hold discussions with the ECOWAS leaders in Abuja after several attempts at making the military relinquish power had failed and all they got was the escalation of killings by the military.
He added, "You know on 28th of September we had a mutiny in our country in our capital and we had about 200 dead shot by the army. And we ourselves were wounded and because of de tat, we have a dictatorship in the country, we have a coup de 'tat in the country and we tried to have free and fair election but the army does not want to leave power. So we are to have a discussion about".
