Namibia: Taxi Driver Sent to Prison Over Theft

A TAXI driver who stole money and luggage worth close to N$10 000 from a passenger in Windhoek in July was sent to prison for a year at the end of his trial in the Windhoek Magistrate's Court in Katutura last week.

Taxi drivers should realise that stealing from their passengers is not worth the risk, and they should think twice before indulging in such a crime, Magistrate Bernhard Tjatjara remarked when he sentenced taxi driver Nikanor Kakondo (29) on a charge of theft on Thursday.
