ABOUT 992 voters added their names to the voters' roll during the supplementary voters' registration at 23 Namibian missions abroad.
Of these, 257 registered to vote at the Namibian mission in Harare, making it one of the largest foreign-based polling stations in next month's elections.
The second largest overseas supplementary registration was in Brazil, where 104 Namibians registered.
"We had a big turnout in Zimbabwe because some young people went there to study at universities. The figures for Brazil are high because of navy training which Namibians receive there," Rukee Tjingaete of the Electoral Commission of Namibia told The Namibian on Tuesday.
Surprisingly, there was a low turnout for registration in the United Kingdom, where only 33 added their names to the voters' roll, while the United States recorded 73 and South Africa 189.
Some 60 Namibians in Cuba and 24 in Germany also registered.
The lowest number was recorded at Namibian missions in Nigeria, Malaysia and Egypt were five people, presumably embassy staff, registered at each.
Voting abroad will take place on November 13, two weeks ahead of the November 27 and 28 elections in Namibia.
