Kampala — RONALD Serugo might have not won a medal at the recent world championship, but his two fights didn't go unnoticed by world boxing body AIBA. Serugo is one of ten boxers selected by AIBA for a special training program for the next Olympics.
"I am pleased to inform you that you have been selected by AIBA for further training program for the 2012 London Olympic games," AIBA president Ching-Kuo wrote to Serugo.
The AIBA boss explained that Serugo's selection fol¬lowed his performance at a training camp in Assisi Italy and the world champion¬ships.
AIBA particularly took note of Serugo's technical level age, experience, motivation and willingness to succeed.
Serugo outclassed favourite Thomas Stubbs before con¬troversially losing to Korean Shin Jong Hun at the world meet in Milan.
Ching-Kuo said AIBA will develop a special training program for the Olympic qualifiers.
"It's a great opportunity. I will definitely make the best of it," promised Serugo.
