Nigeria: Ram Sports Gains More Popularity

It was a funfair as over 80 rams' thrilled fans with awesome fighting skills during the 2009 Pre-season Ram competition held during the weekend at the Jalisco Sports Centre Oshodi, Lagos.

The event organised by the Ram Sports promoters Association of Nigeria attracted over15,000 fans from across Lagos and neighboring states.

The competition started with friendlies involving 35 fights which was only an appetizer to the curious fans before the main pre-season competition started.

The fight comprised of 12 categories with rams from various zones in Lagos and other states in the federation.

Category H started the first fight with ram "Justina" which showed its prowess and determination by hitting ram "Fineboy"of Ajegunle 7 knock-out head bouts which dazed Fineboy and it quickly ran after recovery.

Another destroy of the of the fight was ram "Yori-Yori" of Isolo, the aggressive looking ram dispatched "Omota" of Kosofe with ease in the category G1. The zeal with which "Yori-Yori" carried out its mission was a delight to the fans as they cheered and jeered Omota. Omota was overwhelmed by constant attacks of Yori-Yori and it could not stand it for long as Yori-Yori had the upperhand.

It was category F that the champion stuff was shown as "Yaradua" of Isolo took on Miliki of Agbowa both fighting tirelessly until they had a total of 100 hits which saw the two rams placed on tie making two of them champions.

The competition was wrapped up as ram "Azuri" the 2009 defending champion proved to "Ijala" that it was still unbeatable as "Azuri" meted out 87 killer hits on its opponent.

The ram owners of the winner of each category went home each with a Tiger portable generator and a cooler, while the runners-up got electric rice cooker and a cooler each. Winners of the friendlies went home with a set of dinner plates.
