A massive effort has kicked off to develop and plant higher-yielding, disease and drought resistant crop varieties of Africa's most important food crops.
At least 300 agriculture scientists, entrepreneurs, farmers' organisations and governments from across the continent are meeting under the auspices of the Programme for Africa's Seed Systems (PASS) in Bamako-Mali in a bid to speed up the initiative.
