Kigali — Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) finally landed in Pajema, Kitgum District in Northern Uganda bordering Sudan, to participate in the Joint Field Training exercise code-named Natural Fire 10.

The joint field training exercise which will be officially opened tomorrow, has brought together armies of all the five member states of the East African Community (EAC), together with members of the US Africa Command.

"Our soldiers have safely arrived at their destination without any hardship and we are expecting to complete this field training exercise with ease," Maj Cyuma Mabano, the RDF contingent commander, told The New Times in an interview.

Rwanda has 128 soldiers taking part in the exercise. The soldiers will be trained in activities that will include; Humanitarian Civic Assistance (HCA), helicopter familiarization, weapon handling, riot control, hand-to-hand combat and entry control point.

In total, close to 1,150 soldiers drawn from the EAC are taking part in this exercise.

A similar exercise codenamed Mlima Kilimanjaro took place in Tanzania in which RDF actively participated.
