Luanda — The government passed on Thursday an emergency programme for the support of Angolan citizens repatriated from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), that will focus on reception, sheltering and transportation to the respective families, ANGOP has learnt.
The plan comprises medical assistance, handing out of food, clothes and hygiene means, re-settlement and professional reintegration, says a communiqué from the extraordinary meeting of the Cabinet Council, summoned by President José Eduardo dos Santos.
It also foresees the registration of repatriated people for the storing of personal data and verification of the nationality, as well as actions of epidemiological vigilance and notification of transmissible diseases and potential endemic illnesses.
According to the minister of Welfare and Social Reintegration, João Baptista Kussumua, for this operation the government will spend 15.0 million dollars for 34,572 citizens already in Angola and other ones that are to come.
The assistance includes creation of sanitary conditions in sheltering areas and transport to Cabinda, Uije and Zaire provinces, where 80 per cent of these citizens have relatives, whereas others will have as destination Malanje, Huambo, Luanda, Lunda-Norte, Lunda-Sul Kwanza-Norte and Kwanza-Sul.
The Angolan Armed Forces and the Ministry of Transport are participating in the operation, through the grant of cars and helicopters, as well as the installation of campaign hospitals in the localities of Luvo and Cumba in the Northern Zaire.
