Uganda: Bobi Wine to Spice Up W/C Trophy Tour

Only Heads of State can be allowed to touch the coveted World Cup trophy.

However, the self-acclaimed 'Gheto' president Bobi Wine, will be among the many artistes to 'welcome' the trophy to Kampala on November 15.

Bobi Wine has been lined up to perform at Lugogo cricket oval where the trophy will be paraded for public viewing. According to Coca-Cola East and Central brand manager (Uganda) Maggie Kigozi, soccer fans that will make it to Lugogo are in for a memorable treat.

Besides Bobi Wine, the Good Lyfe Entertainment duo of Mowzey Radio and Weasal TV will also entertain fans. Access to the venue is free but fans interested in watching the performances have to buy one bottle of coca-cola. GNL Zamba and Ragga Dee are also on the long list of performers. "We want to make it a fun-filled day for Ugandans because they are so passionate about football," Kigozi noted.

Currently in Freetown, Sierra Leone, the trophy heads to Congo Brazzaville on October 31 and Democratic Republic of Congo a day later. From DR Congo, its next stop will be in Angola on November 4 through to Botswana, Zambia, Burundi, Rwanda and Kenya before arriving in Uganda. The tour, sponsored by Coca-cola, is aimed at giving soccer fans an opportunity to get an up-close of the trophy, which most have only watched on television.
