Nigeria: Fashola Wants Nigerians to Invest in Transport Sector

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has urged Nigerians to invest in the country's transport sector, instead of dumping their money in foreign accounts with little or no interest.

He gave the advice on Thursday at the public presentation of a book entitled 'You Too Can Do It, a biography of Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, Chairman, Chisco Transport Nigeria Limited at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Fashola said he admired people like Chief Anyaegbu, who had the faith and courage to invest in the nation's economy and urged Nigerians to emulate the transport business guru.

"I think it is high time, we all, every Nigerian emulated people like Anyaegbu, take the bull by the horn and invest in the Nigerian economy," he said.

Fashola, who described transportation as crucial to the social and economic lives of the people, said the likes of Anyaegbu have made governance easy provision of an efficient and effective mode for movement of people and goods from one part of the country to another.

In his remarks, Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State said he was not surprised at Chief Anyaegbu's achievements as people from his state are known for excellence in all fields of human endeavour.

He said Anambra people have excelled in various fields, especially in business, noting that they live and engage in legal business ventures in different parts of the country.

Obi, who said he is always proud of his people, described Anyaegbu as a focused man whose transport business had stood the test of time.

Reviewing 'You Too Can Do It', Professor Julius Ihonvberre said the book underscores chief Anyaegbu's experiences and vicissitudes of life.
