Ibadan — Worried by the raging crisis that has polarised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, some eminent and well-meaning elders of the party in the state have waded in and have already succeeded in drafting former President Olusegun Obasanjo, also an indigene of the state into the mediation team.
Disclosing this during an interactive session with members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ibadan yesterday, a party top shot, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi expressed the hope that the rate at which the mediation team is currently working, the crisis will be a thing of the past before this year runs out.
"We are very optimistic that the whole problem rocking our great party in Ogun State will be holistically resolved before the end of the year, judging by the rate at which we are going. It is an in-house move that will see the step by step resolution of the crisis," he said.
Dr. Majekodunmi further declared: "I want to assure all Nigerians and more especially, the people of Ogun State, that there is an on-going move by some PDP leaders in Ogun State to solve the problem. I can tell you that we will not have any problem in completely solving the problem because with the way we have started, and the way we are going about it, the whole thing will surely be solved. And I can assure you that this time around, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is being involved.
"The former President who has been, to some extent, accused of not mediating in the problem so far, is being involved this time. He is a father of all, not only in Ogun State but in Nigeria as a whole and internationally. So, we believe the problem will be solved in a matter of days."
He also told newsmen that the mediating elders' caucus has been getting maximum support from all the stakeholders in the state polity, including the state governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and the embattled members of the State House of Assembly.
Dr. Majekodunmi maintained that the fortunes of the PDP had not waned in Ogun State in view of the crisis among the leadership, saying "the party is intact, although there are some skirmishes here and there."

that seems to be a welcomed development...our prayer in Ogun state is that we want real elected officers at all levels instead of imposition..election.. Ogun state & Nigeria itself will be a better place for all if & only if our elections are free & fair
